The Texas AgriLife Extension Service and its volunteer arm The Highland Lakes Master Gardeners, usually have classes to become a Texas Master Gardener in the spring around the beginning of March. The classes last year were held mostly at the Marble Falls First United Methodist Church near HEB and some other area locations on Tuesday afternoons from 1 to 5 PM for at least 10 weeks. Click here to get the latest information on the new classes or to be notified when new classes are being formed. Please check out the "about us" page to see if you would like to join us in the Master Gardener Program. The Master Gardeners are a volunteer arm of the Texas AgriLife Extension Service. All residents of Burnet County and the Kingsland, Horseshoe Bay, and Buchanan Dam area are invited to participate in the program. It doesn't matter if you are experienced or are new to gardening, you will really enjoy this experience. The instructors are some of the best in the state with some being local experts that are knowledgable about the plants for our area. You will learn how to have a successful garden in the Texas hill country. You will be required to participate in some fun gardening activities in the community to be certified. With activities like Farmers Market, children's projects, local gardening projects in Burnet County and Kingsland, Green Thumb Program, and the Hill Country Lawn & Garden Show you will have your 50 hours in no time. The cost for the entire program is $150 which will include all course materials, refreshments, club dues and a soil test. Class size is limited so get your application in early.
